From Steve Goad of On the Road in Hampton Roads at Tech Nite 2012: "You would not think of Hampton Roads, Virginia, as an Application Mecca let alone a place to start up an Internet company. According to xTuple co-founder, Ned Lilly, President and CEO it’s an excellent community to start a company."
Goad continues, "About ten years ago, Ned Lilly co-founded xTuple, originally called OpenMFG, in October 2001, with the aim of bringing the worlds of open source and ERP together to solve the unmet needs of small to midsized manufacturers. He was a co-founder of Great Bridge, an early attempt to build a business around the PostgreSQL open source database, in 1999; PostgreSQL is the core technology for xTuple today.”
"At Tech Nite 2012, On the Roads in Hampton Roads had an opportunity to catch up with this thriving entrepreneur. Ned Lilly shared with us his thoughts on the potential for growth in Southeastern Virginia," said Goad.
