I came across an interesting article earlier this week. Infoworld's Biggest ERP Failures of 2010 is focused on multiple implementation blunders. This is meant to be your typical "Failed ERP" piece, but the first couple of examples aren't even ERP, they're Payroll and CRM. Beyond that, there are multiple examples of SAP failures.
A company with poor business practices will still have poor business practices when they implement an ERP system. Those companies with good business practices stand to gain the most from a solid system like xTuple. When you mix poor business practices with an overly complex ERP system, well, it can result in an ugly outcome.
An ERP implementation should enhance a company's strengths, but it can also expose the weaknesses. If your company is implementing xTuple, be sure to examine your business processes and allow the system to enhance your strengths.
