Global Hack-a-thon Success

So a handful of us got together a week or so ago to fix some bugs. No big deal, right? Actually it was.

Five xTuple partners and I met at erpDevelopers' worldwide headquarters in Chicago — many thanks to Jeff and Rob for their warm hospitality. We sat around a conference table for three (3) days and nights, collaborating and hacking. A few had done this before; others were fairly new to xTuple development. We spent a lot of the time talking about and working through git workflows, Qt stuff, bug tracker wrangling, and development environments.

The weekend was a great success. Together we fixed and/or implemented over 20 bugs and features. We all learned something. We know each other better and what each of us can do. Our prior experiences played well off each other. We had fun doing it. A couple of things weren't perfect, but we have some ideas on how to do better next time. It was a good step in community-building (and I'm not the only one who said that, everyone echoed that sentiment!).

If you're reading this, you're interested in xTuple. If you're interested in xTuple, you have a stake in our success ... because "our" includes YOU! Next time you hear about an xTuple hack-a-thon, please join us. Bring ideas, pet peeves, and a laptop. There are lots of ways to contribute and lots of issues that can be resolved in an afternoon. Plus it's fun to shift gears and do something a little different with a bunch of nice people. We look forward to seeing you.

Sunday (bottom photos) = orange theme, there's an "end-game" in sight
