Well, after pondering over the uninstable xTuple 3.7.2on my new Ubuntu machine, I finally got it to work.
I never got the Linux version to work, as th eideas proposed did nto work. The idea of installing a few files and modifying things did nto appeal to me, as undoing things on my database and computer seemeda bit much to get the software working that was supposed to work 4 years back, and I saw others having problems back then(and still now), according to various conversation in places on the net and here. Besides, I am not techie enough, or that brave to do too much under the hood....
I bumped in to WINE and ity allows me to run xTuple just fine.
No need to upgrade, modify or anything. It just works (like on my old Mac ;-)
I am back in business. Thanks for the ideas.
